Climate Change Together

Click on this link below, I have so much admiration for this strong young lady:-

Greta Thunberg – THE FACTS

“To preserve and renew —-
——– is almost as noble as to create”

Voltaire (Philosopher)1694 – 1778

Here, as promised, is more about myself:-

Today the words on all our lips is Climate Change and Renewable Energy. Its amazing when one considers the 300million years it took to lay down the world’s supply of fossil fuels, half of which is already gone, and to make matters worse, when one further considers that in 200 years since the Industrial Revolution, what we have done. Our society is witnessing the malignant effects of this industrialisation : the despoliation of the natural world, pollution, Climate Change and a crisis looming of proportions greater than a world war.
So how have I, Steve Mongan, as an engineer arrived in this narrowly populated field of what we now call Environmental Engineering.

In 1962 I started my apprenticeship at a large engineering firm Baker Perkins on Tyneside. The training of apprentices was at that time arguably the best, two years in an apprentice school and then every six months or so moved into a different department. The elite of the apprentices got an opportunity to work in the drawing office, and in my case this was for a year. This was a sea change in my development and knowledge to progress from a draughtsman to a design engineer.

At this time when I was 19 and having a few beers with my dad and grandad, both also called Stephen, my grandad advised me I was fortunate to be working in the drawing office of one of the firms originators “old man Baker”. He had invented the best bread oven for the field kitchens in the trenches of the first world war. My grandad after being wounded in the Battle of the Somme returned to the trenches as a batman to the regimental Colonel, who always insisted he obtained his bread from a Baker’s oven. This prompted him to enquire as to how this oven produced such tasty bread. ‘Its all to do with even heat circulation”
a cook told him. My grandad suggested to me that as a budding draughtsman I should find out how this oven works. If only he knew how prophetic that encouragement was going to be.
Upon my apprenticeship finishing I obtained an improved career prospect as a Contracts Manager in a small engineering firm.

In 1971 as a 25 year old I was offered a major career advancement with an engineering company as a Works Manager with a company specializing in all aspects to do with Air Movement, how to heat it, clean it, move it, cool it.
My progress into designing environmental solutions in many industries was rapid and in 1973 I was appointed Works Director. I began work on my first Patents to do with Environmental Engineering. The discipline is known as The Physicis of Air and in that there is a direct connection to Thermodynamics the science of heat and power and so I progressed in this field designing and building many Heat Recovery projects for household name industrial clients.

I have almost a lifetimes work in the field of Thermodynamics and the Physics of Air. These sciences have successfully been applied over the last 30 years throughout industry and commerce. An innovator in the applied physics of energy and heat transfer has led me to develop a unique heat transfer device which forms the basis of a series of Patents. A principal achievement was to build the UK’s only test rig to commercially simulate actual industrial energy saving.

As described in the government White Paper “the coming oil shock” prompted me to further develop his technology into the field of Renewables and in particular electricity production, the success of this work has led to further patents. With the advent of Climate Change and the targets set by Governments for carbon reduction I have presented, by invitation to select committees of The House of Lords and the United Nations on “Bio-Electricity”.

To many observers it is said I am an intuitive mechanical engineer who has spent more than 30 years in applied environmental engineering. To most observers that means keeping our environment clean, healthy and manageable. That includes emissions discharged into our atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. My primary engineering disciplines are two fold: “The Physics of Air and Thermodynamics” this lifetimes work includes several patents around these engineering fields that have proved to be the embodiment of many successful applications such as:-

air pollution control, welding fume control, synenergistic patents on energy management, absorption chillers and Renewable energy heat exchangers producing steam, High efficiency piston steam engines performing on saturated steam.
Renewable means exactly that, we grow it, we harvest it, it grows again, -just like our food.

My patents include the ability to process vegetable oils and even blend them with various forms of waste to provide a Bio- Fuel that can drive various types of engines that can produce electricity for direct exporting into the national grid, that means it is available for the likes of you and me to use for our businesses and homes.

Over the last 16 years I have perfected the science through a series of unique test facilities that prove the science works, these key landmarks over the last 3 decades provide us with a platform to meet the governments targets for carbon reduction in accordance with Kyoto protocol.

2001 Vegetable oils perfected into a blending process to make BIO-FUEL.

2002 Burning characteristics established quantifying calorific value and hugely reduced atmospheric emissions.

2003 Heat exchanger development and testing to enhance generator engine performance.

2004 Testing facilities developed and proven.

2005 Supplies and location logistics developed, equipment sourced for applications programme.

2006 The building of a 4MW micro-power station running entirely on vegetable oils.

2007 Principal designer for a proposed “ roll out “ of 30 micro-renewable power stations to be funded through the AIM market.

2008 Worldwide research and development carried out to establish a sustainable source of renewable fuels not wholly reliant on just a vegetable oil base.

2009 Further Patents filed for a synergistic power production process using entirely renewable fuels.

2010 Prototype completion of Hybrid Power Station comprising the above Patent filed technology utilizing what is known as:
Mongan Power Cycle
